J.J. Textile deals in exclusive wool blankets, cushion covers and throws designed with love and passion by Jurate Jakstaite.

With extensive experience in the textile industry Jurate (“Jacky”) Jakstaite has been designing and selling her own products in the UK and overseas since 2012. Each year she draws inspiration from her new-found home environment of Great Britain as well as from her experiences working for other well-established, overseas textile companies to create fresh, fun additions to her collection.

Jurate draws inspiration for the unique, original designs from nature, the ever-changing seasons and her customers ideals. She has a longstanding relationship with trusted manufacturers in her native Lithuania, who carefully and skilfully bring her designs to life in either pure wool or blends of wool and cotton.New relationships with UK manufacturers are also beginning to take flight.

The products are stocked by many independent businesses all over the UK, as well as by some larger retailers and are exported as far overseas as Japan. The blankets and throws have also been keeping customers cosy in hotels and on many outdoor café and wine bar terraces. The products make very special corporate gifts and bespoke designs are also possible (minimum order applies).

You are welcome to browse the collection and appreciate the quality and joy of these lovingly-crafted, enchanting designs; discover something new and enter in to the J.J. Textile philosophy of ‘happy living in a woolen world'!

  • Sustainability Role in overall company's strategic plans
J.J. Textile recognises that it has a responsibility to the environment beyond legal and regulatory requirements. We are committed to reducing our environmental impact and continually improving our environmental performance, as an integral part of our business strategy and operating methods. We aim to inspire our customers, suppliers and other stakeholders to do the same.
    Sustainability initiatives
We endeavour to comply with relevant legal and regulatory requirements; continually improve and monitor environmental performance as well as promote sustainable sourcing; continually improve and reduce environmental impacts (for example, minimise packaging and, where possible, use recyclable or biodegradable materials only); use only natural textiles including wool, cotton and linen in our product range.
    Pledges for the year
We are working towards zero waste and are encouraging the re-use of loose fibre during the carding, spinning and weaving processes. If any fabric is left over for one garment, we aim to re-use for another. We also wish to replace plastic packaging with a more sustainable and biodegradable material and hope to do so in the near future.
    Sustainable Products
    Wool Blankets
These blankets are woven from a cosy blend of wool and cotton. They are very versatile as they feature a fully reversible pattern, giving two options in one blanket. From elegant neutrals to bright bold colours, there’s something for everyone’s taste and décor style. Each blanket is finished with a decorative blanket stitch to complete the enchanting design.
    Wool Throws
Available in several elegant colours from rich vibrant tones to earthy neutrals; there’s something for every interior. Designs vary from fun, fresh animal prints to light botanical scenes, all are edged with an off-white fringe. These throws are fully reversible and have the inverted colour-scheme on the reverse.
    Wool Cushion Covers
Made to perfectly complement our range of blankets and throws, each cover has a different design front and back. They work together beautifully, whether you choose to style them in matching pairs or as a mixture of different designs and colours. A concealed zip and a decorative blanket stitch round the edge adds the final touches to the carefully thought-out design.

    Materials
    Our products are plastic free
We have products made from sustainability sourced raw materials
All our products are made from natural fibres, with the majority using either pure wool or wool blended with a small amount of cotton. Wool is a fully natural product, entirely renewable, sustainable and is fully biodegradable – some very important features in a world that is increasingly concerned about the environment. Each year sheep produce a fleece which needs to be removed for their own health, this makes wool one of the most natural and renewable resources available today. Sheep and wool are part of the natural cycle, being derived from living matter which has absorbed carbon through its life means that 50% of the weight of clean wool is pure biogenic carbon gathered from the environment! Microplastic pollution is one of the biggest and most urgent issues facing the global textile industry. The loss of fibres from synthetic textiles, and the persistence of these microplastic fibres in aquatic ecosystems, is an area of major concern. Wool is completely natural and is plastic free, meaning that it does not contribute to the plastic problem the world is facing. Wool is well-known to be strong and resilient and our products are designed to be very long lasting but when they do finally come to the end of their lifespan, they can be recycled. Old wool fabric and fibre can be recycled for many uses including insulation and geotextiles.
