Children’s fashion added as a gift category to Autumn Fair

Autumn Fair, the season’s number one home and gift marketplace for the retail industry, is to extend its Children’s Gifts, Toys & Gadgets showcase to include fashion, following the recent closure of Bubble London, the childrenswear trade show.

Whilst research from Verdict Retail suggests childrenswear is struggling in comparison to other clothing, the sector is forecast to grow by 10.4 percent by 2021 and there are opportunities to sell to gift retailers where spend on children’s gifts is high.

Autumn Fair believes businesses aligned to children’s fashion must have an opportunity, as was possible at Bubble London, to unveil their latest products and meet buyers in a physical marketplace. This is what the Fair hopes to offer with the extension of its established children’s showcase will provide this chance.

Louise Young, managing director, Spring & Autumn Fair said: “Childrenswear suppliers and retailers have faced challenging trading conditions of late, but the market is still forecast to grow significantly in coming years. Those companies that react to changing consumer expectations and deliver products that are on-trend will succeed in growing their market share.

“Bringing childrenswear exhibitors and buyers together will only help facilitate success, and drive innovation. Bubble London had played a pivotal role in the sector however, retailers are now diversifying by offering a variety of product categories aimed at different age demographics. Whether it be for children or for teenagers, gifting children’s clothing and accessories is a key area of sell-through for retailers.

“Our view is that those that attend Autumn Fair will be in a much more favourable position to harness this opportunity.”

As the gateway to the Golden Quarter – the three final months of the year, Autumn Fair will enable gift and children’s fashion buyers to buy product ‘here and now’ for the key selling period, as well as helping them get ahead of the competition by seeing the biggest range of 2019 product launches in the UK.

Autumn Fair’s sister show, Spring Fair already attracts numerous exhibitors in the childrenswear space, as part of its children’s gift and toys showcase.
