Nestled on our farm in the heart of North Cornwall, we sustainably craft high-quality candles using a blend of traditional and contemporary methods. We have been perfecting the art and science of candle-making for over 28 years creating unique, nature-inspired fragrances.

We’re committed to treading softly on the Earth; creating stunning pieces with a focus on sustainability. In July 2022, we officially became a Certified B Corporation, legally embedding our commitment to place purpose beyond profit in all company endeavours. We are immensely proud of our B Corp Certification, alongside our Queen’s Award for Enterprise in Sustainable Development which we were honoured to receive in 2021. Together, these achievements recognise and celebrate our commitment to putting people and planet first.

  • Sustainability Role in overall company's strategic plans
Creating an environment that enriches people’s lives and treading softly on the earth is the St. Eval vision, which began over 28 years ago. These values remain at the very heart of our inspiration for crafting beautiful candles, home fragrances and natural body care.
    Sustainability initiatives
Treading softly on the earth is one of our three core values. All our facility energy is sustainably sourced, with the majority of it being produced onsite via wind, solar and biomass, helping to reduce our carbon footprint and impact on the environment. We are constantly searching for ways to reduce our carbon footprint and make our products more sustainable, including expanding our solar power portfolio and eliminating plastic from all diffuser and candle products.
    Pledges for the year
We aim to be Net Zero by 2030, and we are well on track to achieve this ambitious target, with many initiatives to support this goal, including expanding our solar power portfolio and eliminating plastic from all diffuser and candle products.

This Autumn, the collection welcomes four new products: shampoo, conditioner, body wash and body lotion, to join our popular hand wash and hand lotion duo which we launched in 2021.
    AT THE FAIR
    NEW TO THE FAIR
    Social equity at your company
Our mission is to create a company that people can trust and believe in; a business that people want to work for, buy from and collaborate with. We are working hard to create a representative, inclusive and friendly team, because we know that different experiences, perspectives and backgrounds make for a better workplace and that creates a better experience for our customers. In 2021 we became a certified real Living Wage employer, a Mindful Employer and deployed our first employee assistance program. As a business, we are honoured to be able to give back to the community by giving our support to the charities and projects who need it most. We have a dedicated charity committee made up of employees from across the business, and we support local charities and those further afield.
    Packaging
We are in the process of making our packaging plastic free
We are working hard to eliminate single-use plastics from our ranges completely. We have switched to recyclable cardboard gift boxes for our dinner candles and for our hand soap and lotion gift sets too, and we have introduced new kraft cardboard packaging for our diffuser and scented tealight collection. These changes mean we are well on track to meet our plastic-free target. We have successfully removed all bubble wrap and similar from our despatch packaging, favouring recycled paper for wrapping and cardboard from our shredder for void fill, as well as moving to the use of paper packaging tape as an alternative to the plastic-based cello tapes. Our pioneering efforts have been recognised by our local community awarding us Surfers Against Sewage Plastic Free Champions and inviting us to join the plastic-free business network.
