We are able to do this through our partnership with Buy One, Give One (B1G1). We are on a continuous mission to eliminate all plastic from our kits.Pledges for the yearAs stated, The Crafty Kit Company has received the UK’s ’Best Sustainable Craft Company’ award, for two consecutive years. We are committed to continuing to support the transition towards net-zero; we continually review both our supplier lists as well as our products and our manufacturing processes, in order to maximise our progression towards net-zero. These efforts have been reflected in our recent decisions to discontinue specific products and to switch to a packaging supplier situated closer to our premises.Sustainable ProductsBertie Bunny Needle Felting KitA complete kit to make a cute needle felted bunny. The staff group is diverse and the majority of the team are balancing family/caring commitments with their employment. The staff team includes individuals who have been out of the employment market for a period. The Crafty Kit Company supports its staff by being flexible in order to support individual employees to balance their caring/personal commitments with their work commitments, therefore supporting work/life balance. The Crafty Kit Company is founded on their values, which are: Desire to do better Open-mindedness Happiness Kindness and Respect Consistency and High Standards These values inform the recruitment of staff to posts within the business. In line with our values, staff are encouraged to have a voice in operational decisions and to share their ideas on how to develop what we do. Aside from an open-door approach and encouraging individuals to make suggestions on an ad-hoc basis, we also hold a daily morning huddle in the workshop, where staff are kept up to date with any new developments as well as being encouraged to raise any issues or suggestions openly. A weekly Team Newsletter, which regularly includes contributions from staff, is circulated to all staff by email as well as being posted in the workshop. Staff can also make suggestions or give feedback anonymously, via a staff suggestion box. There are monthly team events to support team building. Team members very recently participated in a successful pottery event held at the Edinburgh Pottery. The Crafty Kit Company listens to staff and values their contributions. Where appropriate, business and operational decisions are made collectively, in consultation with the team. The forum for these decisions is most often at the morning huddle. Some staff are contracted and other staff work on a self-employed basis. The company does however respect mutually agreed hours for self-employed workers despite those individuals not being contracted to work any specific hours. The company invests in its staff and, as referred to previously, supports individuals’ professional development. The Crafty Kit Company supports staff to be engaged with their work and to capitalize and build on their individual strengths. We currently provide employment to one individual who commenced their role as a kit packer and after training and professional mentoring now also carries out work as part of the Crafty Kit Company’s design team.
